Background Check Information (Inside Wireman Program Only)

After you have taken the aptitude test, and if you receive a ranking sufficient to meet selection requirements, a background check will be conducted. Having a criminal record does not automatically disqualify an applicant from being accepted. Every applicant identified by the screening as having been convicted of a felony in the past seven years will be individually assessed by the committee. If the committee determines an applicant unsuitable for the program, they will have 10 days to demonstrate that the exclusion should not apply. Please see our full Background Check Policy for more information.
