The JATC will interview applicants that receive a passing score on the aptitude test. You will be notified of your exact interview date & time via email. If you choose to submit a cover letter, a resume, or any other records showing additional education or related training, they must be submitted to frontdesk@djeatc68.com no later than one week prior to your scheduled interview.
At the interview you will be scored by four individuals from our industry. You will be asked basic interview questions about how you have handled situations in your life that are relevant to occupational success. They will want to know the situation, what you did, and the result, when you were faced with these situations in the context of work, school, or at home.
After the interview, the scores you receive from each member of the committee will be compiled and you will be placed on a list of eligible applicants based on your average score (Please note: the list will be adjusted when new interviews take place). Names are taken from the top of the list when new apprentices are accepted into the program; for the JATC to accept a new apprentice, there must be work available. Once placed on the list, you will remain eligible for a maximum of one year. If you are not accepted within that time, your name will be removed from the list and you would be eligible to re-apply if you are still interested in the program.
After you have taken the aptitude test and been interviewed, and if you receive a ranking sufficient to meet selection requirements, a background check will be conducted. Having a criminal record does not automatically disqualify an applicant from being accepted. Every applicant identified by the screening as having been convicted of a felony in the past seven years will be individually assessed by the committee. If the committee determines an applicant unsuitable for the program, they will have 10 days to demonstrate that the exclusion should not apply. Please see our full Background Check Policy for more information.
